Position Summary:
Washington State University Vancouver and the Carson College of Business invite applications for a permanently funded, clinical faculty position in Management Information Systems to begin August 16, 2019.

This is a permanently funded position at the clinical level. The appointment will be on a contract basis (term to be negotiated) with the opportunity for renewal. Duties are assigned for a nine-month academic calendar, beginning on August 16, 2019. There are opportunities to secure summer funding for teaching or research. An academically-qualified faculty member (doctoral degree or equivalent terminal degree in MIS or related disciplines, research record and professional engagement) would have a normal teaching load of three courses per semester. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience; benefits are competitive; the retirement system is TIAA/CREF or TRS 3.

In addition to teaching duties, service will include: supporting student consulting efforts, working with student organizations, and building relationships with professionals. The clinical faculty member must remain academically or professionally qualified (per AACSB standards for WSU), involving two publications in a period of five years. Additional relevant service to the campus and discipline to advance the university towards its goals and provide distinctive contribution to the academic field will be required.

Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must have by employment start date: 1) a doctoral degree or equivalent terminal degree (e.g. DBA, JD) in MIS or related field from a nationally or internationally recognized university, or 2) a doctoral degree or equivalent terminal degree in other fields complemented with evidence of significant information systems industry experience. All qualified candidates must demonstrate evidence of overall teaching excellence in MIS (supported by teaching evaluations). Candidates must also demonstrate evidence of an MIS-related research agenda targeting MIS or related practitioner or academic journals.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate the ability to teach multiple courses in MIS, such as the MIS introductory course, database management, computer programming and eBusiness/eCommerce
management. Relevant MIS industry experience to support teaching and service will be highly valued.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their leadership skills and ability to connect with the business community. Experience building programs and securing the cooperation of local business organizations will be especially valued. Ongoing professional practice in the area of MIS, professional certifications in MIS, experience in executive teaching in MIS or participation on a board of directors in an MIS-related position are also valued.

Preference will also be given to candidates with the ability to regularly publish in either practitioner or academic journals – especially in the area of MIS. Publications may include refereed journal articles, scholarly monographs or book chapters, textbooks in MIS or related areas, and conference proceedings from a conference of national or international recognition.

Preferred candidates will demonstrate knowledge and ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.

Salary: Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
