University of Pennsylvania — Faculty Position in Field Service, Equine Emphasis (AC Track)

The School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Department of Clinical Studies – New Bolton Center invites applications for a faculty position in Field Service (Equine Emphasis) in the Academic Clinician Track.  

Requirements include a DVM/VMD or equivalent degree and three years of clinical practice experience with eligibility for licensure in PA, MD, and DE.  Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The position is available February 1, 2019.

New Bolton Center is the large animal campus of the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine and is located 40 miles southwest of the Philadelphia main campus, in beautiful picturesque Chester County horse country.  Our practice serves a diverse population of performance and pleasure horses.

Daily practice obligations will include cases typical of ambulatory practice including but not limited to: lameness, field surgery, herd health, internal medicine, ophthalmology, dentistry, and reproduction.  A fully stocked ambulatory truck will be provided and digital radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, dynamic endoscopy, and dental equipment (power/hand floats and scope) are available.  This position will rotate with the other equine Field Service clinicians in the emergency schedule.  Consultation with other specialists from the New Bolton Center Large Animal Hospital is readily available and welcomed. 

The successful candidate is expected to participate in the academic program of the section, including didactic and laboratory teaching of students, and training of interns and residents, with a special emphasis on clinical teaching of veterinary students on the Field Service rotation.  Although the focus of this position is on clinical service and teaching, the successful candidate will have the opportunity and is encouraged to participate in collaborative clinical research in areas of interest.
