University of Arkansas — Director of Development and External Relations

The Bumpers College at the University of Arkansas is accepting applications for a Director of Development and External Relations, to work with the Dean of the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences (Bumpers College) and University Development to provide strategic direction for the Development team to obtain major gifts to raise the profile and further the goals of Bumpers College.  The Director is responsible for creating a comprehensive development plan and directing fundraising, external relations, and alumni engagement activities. The Director will identify, research, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors for the Bumpers College. The Director will supervise and evaluate the staff within the Office of External Relations and oversee the direction of the Bumpers College special events as related to development and external relations and financial stewardship. This position reports directly to the Bumpers College Dean and the Executive Director for Development.  Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. 

Required Qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; minimum of three years full-time, professional experience in major gift fundraising; minimum of three years’ experience managing volunteer and advisory boards; minimum three years of supervisory experience; and willingness to travel on behalf of the university and work irregular hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications for this position include previous, successful experience in a major giving campaign, preferably in higher education; familiarity with a university campus; and experience in supporting, evaluating and, developing highly productive staff and teams.
