General Statement of Duties:
Reporting to the Chief Officer Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement, the Director of Inclusive Excellence Initiatives manages the staff, budget, and programs of the Center for Inclusive Excellence. The Director collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders in order to promote academic and co-curricular engagement with diversity and inclusion, provide student leadership development, and support equitable educational outcomes and a positive campus climate. The Center operates from an intersectional vision of diversity and social justice that fosters meaningful student engagement and academic and personal enrichment. Some evening and weekend hours required.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Develops mentoring programs designed to improve the recruitment, retention and college completion rates for underrepresented and historically marginalized students. Reaches out to students throughout the university as a visible and highly accessible member of the Framingham State community. Works to enhance the quality of underrepresented students’ college experience, through programming and leadership initiatives.
  • Develops academic and co-curricular educational programming on social justice, equity and inclusion, as a Center and in partnership with other campus organizations. Collaborates at the divisional and institutional level to develop and creates multicultural and inclusive programming, workshops and trainings, and other opportunities related to infusing and expanding intersectional and interdisciplinary commitments to inclusive excellence in the curriculum and co-curriculum.
  • Provides leadership and organizational development education to student organizations engaged in work related to the mission of the CIE.
  • Serves on campus-wide committees and participates in collaborations with diverse academic, administrative, and off-campus stakeholders so to support the mission of the CIE specifically and diversity and inclusion generally. Serves as a resource to, and works collaboratively and cooperatively with, other campus offices including, but not limited to, Admissions, Center for Academic Support and Advising, Residence Life and Housing, First Year Programs, Student Involvement and Leadership Development, and various academic departments.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Center for Inclusive Excellence. Provides oversight and management of department budget; oversees effective and appropriate use of resources. Engages in strategic planning and assessment of the Center for Inclusive Excellence. Seeks and administer grants related to diversity and inclusion. Hires and supervises Center staff members. Supervises student interns on special projects. Creates communication strategies to promote campus knowledge of and opportunities for participation in Center programs.
  • Engages in professional development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
