University of Pittsburgh — Assistant / Associate Professor of Practice, Applied Developmental Psychology

We are seeking an outstanding scholar-practitioner to join the faculty of a dynamic applied developmental psychology program dedicated to advancing professional education for work with children, youth and families. This non-tenure, full-time, 12-month position instantiates our commitment to strengthening and diversifying professional education for child and youth workers. The successful faculty candidate will teach and advise undergraduate and Master’s students who are planning professional careers in the field of child and adolescent health and development.

Candidates should have a demonstrated record of coordinating and providing professional education to practitioners, community engagement, and participation in the implementation/evaluation of evidence-based, developmentally appropriate practices, policies, and programs that serve to support children, youth and families from diverse backgrounds and communities.

In addition to strong competencies in teaching, advising, and supervision, candidates must be skillfully oriented toward collaborative work with faculty, students, and community agencies. Our applied program depends upon nurturing strong University-Community partnerships, which are essential for linking research with practice, and providing students with internship and professional opportunities. Engagement with the School of Education’s community-focused research and service centers (e.g., Office of Child Development, Center on Urban Education, Motivation Center) is important for meeting the University Chancellor’s community engagement mission and for ensuring the vitality and cohesion of our ADP programs.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in a professional field relevant to child and youth development. Evidence of professional experience, expertise and leadership is important, such as professional credentials and activities, or professional presentations and publications that reach professional scholar and practitioner audiences.
