Department Summary
The School of Law is an ABA-accredited law school and Oregon’s only public law school, made up of three graduate degree programs and an undergraduate legal studies program.

The LL.M (Master of Laws) Program provides a cost-effective, exemplary specialized education and enriches the JD program by bringing ethnic and geographic diversity to the classroom. This graduate program provides the opportunity to earn an advanced degree in law to students who have a J.D. from a U.S. law school or a law degree from outside of the U.S.

Position Summary
The LL.M. Program Director is the lead administrator of the law school’s LL.M degree program. The Program includes four concentration areas: Environmental and Natural Resources Law, Business Law, American Law, and Conflict and Dispute Resolution. The LL.M. Program Director reports to and provides executive support for the LL.M. Faculty Director and is responsible for the growth and day-to-day management of the LL.M. Program. Candidates should have a passion for working with and mentoring students and expanding a top-flight academic program. The position requires excellent communication and leadership skills and an ability and desire to develop relationships with international university partners, recruit prospective applicants, and establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with students and University of Oregon colleagues. The position may require moderate to significant domestic and international travel.

The position will be 0.75 FTE, and has leadership responsibilities for effective communications to publicize the program, budget management, student recruiting, admissions, program events, student support, career planning, program development, office administration, and all staff and student-employee work.

Minimum Requirements

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school, LL.B., or equivalent graduate degree.
  • Three years of relevant professional work experience.

Professional Competencies

  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills that indicate the ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and utilize a range of communication channels with diverse groups of students, faculty, administrators, staff, and members of the bench and bar from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (or similar software).
  • Ability to travel independently by air, automobile, train, or bus and possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LL.M. from an accredited law school.
  • Experience in admissions or other university student affairs setting.
  • Experience building or directing a law school degree program.
  • Professional experience in career services or recruiting.
  • Foreign language competency.
