The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), the state's historically black, 1890 land-grant institution, invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF). Reporting directly to President Heidi M. Anderson, the VPAF is the chief financial officer for the University. The ideal candidate will be an innovative leader who will share a commitment to supporting an ethnically diverse environment that provides high quality academic and cocurricular experiences.

The Vice President for Administration and Finance is charged with leading and coordinating the following areas and positions: Comptroller; Chief Information Officer; Directors of the Physical Plant, Facilities Planning, Design, and Construction; Administrative Computing; Auxiliary Enterprises; Richard A. Henson Center; Budget; Procurement; Public Safety; and Human Resources. The successful candidate will join the University at a critical time with the unique opportunity to work within a newly-assembled leadership team to help chart the University's pathway forward. The President's Cabinet must bring innovative ideas that build on institutional history and values while extending the institutional reach in new directions.

UMES is one of 12 constituent institutions in the University System of Maryland (USM). At the highest level, UMES is governed by the USM Board of Regents, the body that is responsible for the governance and management of the USM and its institutions, overseeing the System's academic, administrative and financial operations, formulating policy, appointing the USM Chancellor and the campus presidents and holding them accountable. At the campus level, a policy of shared governance has been established at UMES, which deems that collaboration between and among administration, students, staff, and faculty is reflective of the University's unique mission.
