University of California, Los Angeles — Assistant Professor of Global Environmental Change and Health

The Department of Environmental Health Sciences in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Global Environmental Change and Health.  This position would complement existing EHS expertise in air and water quality, ecosystem health, and climate change adaptation, and serve as a focal point for expanded teaching and research activities in this emerging environmental health area. The global environmental change faculty member would also complement the increasing emphasis on global health in the Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH), including FSPH centers such as the World Policy Analysis Center, Center for Global Infectious Diseases, the UCLA Center for Global and Immigrant Health, and the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. With internationally recognized strengths in the physical and policy dimensions of global environmental change, UCLA also offers outstanding opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations.

We encourage applications in any area of global environmental change, including (1) climate change and health, (2) health effects associated with urbanization, (3) water and ecosystem health, (4) migration and environmental health, and (5) planetary health. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline (e.g., environmental health, environmental science and engineering, public health or other relevant field) and relevant experience, including excellence in scholarship and productivity, a record of extramural funding commensurate with experience, and/or personal experiences working with areas or communities affected by global environmental change.  Duties include both teaching and leading a vigorous research program. We value candidates whose experience in teaching, research, and service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
