Department of Nutritional Sciences (NS) seeks three energetic faculty members to join the department with the ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.

Assistant Professor – Basic Science: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face to face and online. Mentor undergraduate, MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program in basic science or a related area, via publications and external funding. Be able to work in multidisciplinary research teams. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession.

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in nutrition, biochemistry, biomedical sciences or related disciplines. Potential for teaching as demonstrated by previous TA experience, conference presentations, or other related evidence. Demonstrated potential (commensurate with current position title) to secure extramural research grants. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral or equivalent research experience. Research experience in obesity, diabetes, cancer, epigenetics, microbiome, liver and muscle metabolism and/or related areas. Evidence or potential for training/mentoring graduate and undergraduate students

Associate Professor – Community Nutrition: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face to face and online. Mentor undergraduate, MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program in basic science or a related area, via publications and external funding. Develop research collaboration both within and across disciplines in order to develop interdisciplinary research teams. Bring unique expertise and perspectives to the nutrition curriculum. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university.

Required Qualifications: An earned doctorate in dietetics, nutrition, public health or related disciplines. Demonstrated record of effective teaching at the college level, commensurate with current position title. Demonstrated potential (commensurate with current position title) to secure extramural research grants. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and online delivery methods. Leadership within the area of discipline and profession. Experience working with Hispanic populations will be highly desirable. Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Associate/Full Professor – Clinical Nutrition: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, face to face and online. Mentor undergraduate, MS and PhD students and assist in recruitment of graduate students. Develop and maintain a high impact scholarly research program in basic science or a related area, via publications and external funding. Be able to work in multidisciplinary research teams. Engage in outreach activities and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession. Contribute to clinical services at our NMHI facility which provides multidisciplinary interventions related to nutrition, obesity, and lifestyle and nutrition focused interventions for other diseases (e.g. diabetes, cancer).

Required Qualifications: PhD/RDN or an earned doctorate in dietetics, nutrition, or related disciplines. RDN candidates must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, and will be expected to apply for and receive a Texas Dietitian License. Demonstrated record of effective teaching. Demonstrated strong record of publication and extramural research grants and potential to engage in externally funded collaborative research projects. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and online delivery methods. Professional experience in dietetics, nutrition or related field.
