EFFECTIVE DATE:
August 16, 2019 – 9-month continuing appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum requirements: doctoral degree in advertising, market communications, or related field. Applicants who have completed all but dissertation and who expect to complete all requirements for the doctorate prior to August 15, 2019 will be considered. If official evidence of completion of all requirements for the doctorate is not received by August 15, 2019, the position offered may be a nine-month, term, non-tenure track appointment at a lower salary rate, in accordance with University policy (https://policies.siu.edu/personnel-policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.php). Applicants must also have a clearly defined scholarly research plan; working knowledge of digital media usage; ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate level; ability to work across communication disciplines.

Preference will be given to applicants who have a record of research or creative activities; have a record of excellence in teaching in class and/or online; have advertising industry experience. Candidates with expertise in media planning, consumer behavior research, and media analytics preferred.

DUTIES:
Teach advertising classes such as Media Planning, Digital Advertising, Consumer/Market Research Strategies, Account Planning, for both undergraduate and graduate students. Conduct research that enhances the School’s scholarship and contributes to the field. Other responsibilities include advising graduate students (Masters and Doctoral), providing service appropriate to the academic rank.

The School is fully accredited by the ACEJMC and is a division of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts.
