North Carolina Central University to Offer New Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees Next Year

Historically Black North Carolina Central University will offer a new bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences and a new master’s degree in higher education administration starting in the 2019-2020 academic year. Recent reports by the U.S. Bureau of Labor indicate that job openings in the biosciences and higher education are projected to grow faster than average of other occupations from 2016 to 2026.

North Carolina Central University will be the only school in the University of North Carolina System to offer a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. The new program will provide hands-on training, face-to-face instruction, and research opportunities at the university’s Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute. Students in the program will be prepared for future careers in health-care biomedical professions.

The new master’s degree in higher education program will provide current and prospective higher education professionals with skills and knowledge that will enhance their professionals practices and prepare them for advancement to mid-level supervisory positions. The program will be fully online, allowing participants to maintain full-time employment while earning their degree. Additionally, students will be able to tailor their courses to their own unique needs through different specific tracks that will align with their career interests.
