The Department of Nursing seeks an experienced, doctorally prepared educator and scholar, qualified to teach in upper division pre-licensure BSN, and RN to BSN courses, and in MSN courses to join the tenured/tenure track faculty September 2019.

California State University, San Bernardino is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles.  CSUSB offers programs through the colleges of Arts and Letters, Business and Public Administration, Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley.  CSUSB serves approximately 20,700 students and offers 47 undergraduate, 35 graduate and one doctoral degree as well as 13 programs with national accreditation.

Typical Activities
The faculty candidate will be expected to fulfill the responsibilities of a full-time academic role in undergraduate and/or graduate nursing including teaching theory and clinical nursing courses informed by evidenced based practice.  Responsibilities include participation in department and university committees, scholarship, advising and other contributions to student success, program evaluation and accreditation reporting, and community and professional service.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in nursing or related field from a regionally accredited institution by time of appointment.  Master’s degree in nursing required if doctorate is not in nursing.  Sufficient evidence of academic experience, teaching excellence, scholarship and professional service, to warrant appointment at the rank professor, associate professor or assistant professor.  Candidate must be eligible for California RN licensure and approval with Instructor-status by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) in one or more of the following nursing specialties including Psych/Mental Health, Children (Pediatrics), Obstetrics, Medical-Surgical, and Geriatrics. or Community Health/Public Health Nursing with a Public Health Nursing (PHN) certificate from the California BRN. The candidate will demonstrate ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse campus community and the ability to contribute to a positive work environment with colleagues, staff, students and others.

Preferred Qualifications:  PhD in Nursing.  Graduate preparation and certification in the specialty of Psychiatric/Mental Health/Behavioral Health Nursing.  Experience in assessment, evaluation and regulatory documentation.  Professional/academic service in program and/or committee leadership.  Experience in teaching students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural and academic backgrounds.
