California State University San Bernardino Department of Theatre is accepting applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor with a concentration in Acting or Directing to teach classes in both disciplines. Candidates should display strong scholarship and/or artistic practices with an interest in diversity. As such, the candidate should be a strong collaborator as well as possess knowledge and interest in theater and performance for a range of audiences with strong connections to the professional industry. It is highly desired that the candidate show proven skills to teach undergraduates with widely divergent backgrounds, the foundations of acting and directing with a strong emphasis in voice and movement. Part of the teaching load includes directing department productions within the faculty rotation. The position is expected to pursue professional development through creative work and/or scholarly research, engage in departmental, college-wide and community service, as well as advising students and other administrative duties expected at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Department of Theatre at CSU San Bernardino is a composed of seven full time faculty, 15 adjunct faculty, over 100 major and 40 minors producing a season of three Main Stage productions per year with two to four black box or touring shows a year.  The department maintains a commitment to diversity and the production of works with pertinence to underserved populations.

California State University, San Bernardino is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles.  CSUSB offers programs through the colleges of Arts and Letters, Business and Public Administration, Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley.  CSUSB serves approximately 20,700 students and offers 47 undergraduate, 35 graduate and one doctoral degree as well as 13 programs with national accreditation.

Typical Activities
Teach courses in acting and directing as well as other classes as necessary.  Advising of students.  Maintain an active professional development portfolio.  Regularly attend departmental and other meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
MFA degree in Directing or Acting by time of appointment
