California State University, San Bernardino.  The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor. We seek candidates with specialization in sociology of family, with secondary emphases in racial and ethnic minorities (e.g., Latinx sociology, Black/African American studies, Native American studies).

California State University, San Bernardino is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles.  CSUSB offers programs through the colleges of Arts and Letters, Business and Public Administration, Education, Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley.  CSUSB serves approximately 21,000 students and offers 47 undergraduate, 35 graduate and one doctoral degree as well as 13 programs with national accreditation. CSUSB is listed among the best colleges and universities in the western United State, according to The Princeton Review, Forbes and U.S. News and World Report.

The Sociology Department
The Sociology Department is housed in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Sociology-Social Services Track.  The department has 12 full-time tenure track faculty members and over 700 undergraduate majors. https://csbs.csusb.edu/sociology.

Typical Activities
Faculty are expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, active scholarly and professional work, and service to the university and community. In addition, new faculty are encouraged to develop and participate in activities that support the university’s strategic plan. This plan emphasizes: a) teaching and learning excellence; b) student access, retention, and success; c) excellence in research and creative activities; d) service to the campus and San Bernardino communities.

Minimum Qualifications
1) Ph.D. in Sociology or related field from an accredited institution (or equivalent) by time of appointment. 2) Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate level. 3) Evidence of teaching sociology of family, and secondary emphases in racial and ethnic minorities. 4) Evidence of commitment to working effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a multicultural/multiethnic campus environment. 5) Evidence of active research agenda with specialization in sociology of family and racial and ethnic minorities.
