The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Wayne State University invites applications for a full time faculty appointment in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics at the tenure-track assistant professor rank with an anticipated start date of August 15, 2019. More senior appointments may be considered for exceptional applicants. We are seeking an individual with an outstanding research record in the area of condensed matter physics/materials science, complementing existing research areas in condensed matter and biological physics within the department. We are open to applications in all areas of solid state, materials, and device physics, but are particularly interested in applications with anemphasis onmagnetism,spin-related phenomena, unconventional superconductivity, topological matter, multiferroics, and materials synthesis. The successful candidate is expected to become an effective teacher at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and to establish a vigorous, internationally recognized externally funded research program. In addition to a competitive start-up package, the candidate will be able to make use of the existing departmental core facilities, which include a closed-loop helium liquefaction system, as well as several PPMS and MPMS instruments.
