Valencia College seeks a thoughtful, collaborative, and passionate leader to serve as the college’s Vice President of Academic Affairs.  Valencia College serves nearly 75,000 students each year at multiple campus locations across Central Florida in Orange and Osceola counties.  This position is a member of the college’s Senior Team, led by Valencia’s President Dr. Sandy Shugart, and reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost.

The Vice President of Academic Affairs provides strategic leadership for the areas of curriculum, assessment, faculty development, distance learning, and career and workforce education.  Moreover, the Vice President collaborates with Campus Presidents (to whom the academic deans report) to identify and create the conditions that support student learning across all of our campuses.

Valencia’s students reflect the diversity of our service district, and the college is searching for a leader who is deeply committed to reducing gaps in performance among students from diverse backgrounds.

Serving the greater metro Orlando area, Valencia’s campuses are located near Walt Disney World and the tourist corridor, in which many local residents work.  The college’s program offerings seek both to support the tourism industry as well as diversify employment opportunity in the region and enable economic mobility.  Valencia students are able to leverage a unique partnership called DirectConnect to UCF that guarantees admission to the University of Central Florida for any student who completes an Associate in Arts degree.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • Doctorate degree (or equivalent coursework) from a regionally accredited institution
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and design, as well as teaching and learning pedagogies and strategies
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level, preferably at a community college
  • Experience as an academic leader with responsibilities in areas such as curriculum development, assessment, faculty development, or career and workforce education
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with educational technologies, including distance learning
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion

Salary: $165,000 – $180,000 per year
