University of Nevada Cooperative Extension — Coordinator, AD Guy Knowledge Center

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is seeking a Coordinator for the AD Guy Knowledge Center located in central Las Vegas, NV.

The Coordinator, AD Guy Knowledge Center (hereafter Center) coordinates and oversees the daily operation of the center operations and educational programming. The off-site Center provides community programming to inner-city youth and adults related to workforce readiness, after school programming, and career preparation.  The positon provides for direct program delivery in assigned subject matter areas and/or implements the schedule for others to delivery subject matter.  The incumbent will ensure the delivery of 7-10 initially required programs and must work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. The position will assess the needs of the constituted diverse populations and will work with local agencies and to enhance initial programming and offer new services.  The position is temporary, for three years, with the hope that the Coordinator will write grants and develop new programming for longer-term sustainment.  The positon maintains regular communication with management, but independently executes daily tasks without supervision. Incumbent will also be responsible for evaluation and documentation of program effectiveness and participation, collaboration efforts, budgeting, and implementation of policies and procedures. 

Candidate Qualifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and two years’ experiences of relevant work experience in community programming, urban planning or social work or a Master’s degree and one year’s relevant experience.   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with community outreach efforts, educational programming and teaching
  • Experience working with diverse populations and neighborhoods of various socioeconomic standing
  • Experience networking with community partners and community leaders
  • Knowledge of building facilities, maintenance, upkeep and management  
  • Supervision experience and leadership abilities
  • Experience of securing funding through grants, donations and business partnerships
