Tavarez Holston Appointed President of Georgia Piedmont Technical College in DeKalb

Tavarez Holston has been appointed president of Georgia Piedmont Technical College in DeKalb, Georgia. The two-year college enrolls just over 4,100 students according to the latest data supplied to the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans are 80 percent of the student body.

President Holston stated that under his leadership, the university “will ensure that every student who comes through our doors is provided with a world-class education where they can learn the skills for success in a career.”

Since 2013, Dr. Holston has served as vice president for academic affairs at Lanier Technical College in Oakwood, Georgia.

Dr. Holston holds a bachelor’s degree in management from North Georgia College and State University, a master’s degree in leadership and organizational effectiveness from Troy University in Alabama, and a doctorate in higher education leadership from Valdosta State University in Georgia.
