This Applications Administrator provides full-time applications administration services in the Identity & Middleware Services (IMS) group of the Office of Information Technology. The incumbent performs administration tasks on the enterprise application technologies IMS supports in primary and secondary capacities. Application administration includes tasks such as version upgrades, application of patches, performance tuning, problem analysis, maintenance and growth projections, monitoring, documentation, backup, recovery, and security of software and applications. Many upgrade and maintenance tasks will require work to be performed during non-business hours. The position requires occasional off-hours support and will participate in the group’s On-Call rotation.


Education: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Experience: This position requires a minimum of 3 years of related professional experience.

The position requires working knowledge in the following areas:

  • Monitoring software applications, and documenting and analyzing problems.
  • Data integrations
  • Tuning and troubleshooting problems.
  • Developing test plans to verify logic of new or modified applications.
  • Maintaining system documentation.
  • Planning, coordinating, testing, and communicating changes, upgrades/maintenance schedules, and new services
  • Application account management.
  • Providing advice and training to endusers.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technologies and business processes.
  • Process automation.

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

  • Experience with at least one of the following applications:
    • Analytics, Business Intelligence and Data Management applications such as SAS
    • Workplace management applications such as Archibus
    • Workflow & Document Management applications
    • Workload automation applications such as BMC Control-M
    • IBM applications
    • Blackboard applications
  • Knowledge of performance and stress testing
  • Knowledge of related 3rd party tools including reporting tools such as Crystal Reports

The position requires high ethical standards and the ability to plan, manage, and supervise systems. Attention to detail, a team orientation and a strong commitment to deliver high quality customer service are essential.


Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. The position is contingent upon funding with a minimum starting salary of $69,000.
