Union College — Three-year Visiting Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering Department at Union College of Schenectady, NY invites applications for a three-year visiting assistant professor position for candidates who can teach a range of undergraduate courses and laboratories in mechanical engineering. We welcome applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field. Strong preference will be given to candidates who can start January 1st, 2019.
Union College is a highly selective liberal arts college committed to integrating engineering and science with the humanities and social sciences in new and exciting ways. We are located in New York State’s Capital Region, three hours from NYC, Boston and Montreal. At Union, institutional expectations and support are balanced between teaching and research; the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching, supervising undergraduate research, and sustaining an independent research program. The position involves teaching two courses in each of three trimesters. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed the Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a related area; applicants close to finishing the Ph.D. will also be considered.
