Fort Valley State University in Georgia Appoints Two Black Scholars to Dean Posts

Fort Valley State University, the historically Black educational institution in Georgia, has announced the appointment of two African Americans to dean positions at the university.

Gregory Ford was appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the university. He was dean of the Division of Natural Science and Physical Education at Georgia Highlands College in Rome, Georgia. Earlier he served on the faculty at Morehouse College in Atlanta.

Dr. Ford is a graduate of Grambling State University in Louisiana, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.

Rebecca C. McMullen was named dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies at the university. She has served as interim dean for the past two years,

A native of Columbus, Georgia, Dr. McMullen is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, where she majored in special education. She holds a master’s degree in learning disabilities from Augusta Regents University and a doctorate in teacher preparation and learning disabilities from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
