The Director of Leadership Giving is responsible for directing the planning, implementation, and administration of all leadership gift functions to secure outright and planned leadership gifts of $100,000 or more.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Successfully meet campaign, capital, annual and operational objectives and support the Development Office in meeting comprehensive fundraising goals.
  • Assist in building a long-term development strategy and leadership giving program by expanding the College’s efforts to identify, cultivate and solicit gifts from major individual donors.
  • Good understanding of the mission of Trinity College, coupled with the ability to articulate the vision for the future of Trinity and its programs as set by the President and College leadership.
  • Serve as a key member of the development management team and actively participate in overall office planning.
  • Provide direction and support to Development officers with major prospects.
  • Personally manage a portfolio of approximately 100 leadership gift prospects.
  • Work closely with colleagues on annual giving, parent giving, planned giving and alumni programs that impact the overall success of the Advancement mission.
  • Evaluate and manage performance of individual leadership giving officers.
  • Staff the President and Vice President of Advancement on managing their work with donors effectively, including travel and personal visits.
  • Manage all budget and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
  • Provide regular, accurate reports and information to help in decision making and program evaluation.
  • Meet performance expectations as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful prior development experience, including cultivation and solicitation of major gift donors or comparable job experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years successful fund raising experience.
  • Strong organizational abilities; goal-oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Articulate and persuasive communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong personal and professional integrity.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire a staff and volunteers toward professional growth.
  • Sound judgment, initiative, energy, creativity, flexibility, sensitivity, and confidence.
  • Proven managerial skills, especially in areas of hiring, training, supervising and evaluating staff.
  • The ability and personality to relate effectively to a sophisticated and diverse constituency of high net-worth alumni and parents.
  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent of the time while balancing management responsibilities.
  • Strong planning, organizational and administrative skills, the ability to provide guidance and structure to the leadership giving effort while actively participating in it.
