The Board of Trustees and Alvernia University community invite applications and nominations for the position of President. Alvernia's seventh President will have the opportunity to lead this financially stable and ambitious university to its next level of success through a continued commitment to: student-centered success, external engagement, academic rigor, financial discipline and the passionate articulation of its Franciscan mission and values.

A Franciscan institution rooted in the tradition of Catholic higher education and located in Reading, Pennsylvania, Alvernia University is thriving and poised for continued growth. With a total enrollment of almost 3,000 undergraduate, graduate and adult learners in two Colleges (Arts & Sciences and Professional Programs) and the School of Graduate & Adult Education, Alvernia combines a liberal arts foundation with a broad range of academic and professional programs to foster a learning environment that is committed to service and ethical leadership and to doing well and doing good.

Over the past 15 years, Alvernia University has been transformed, including:
• Becoming a comprehensive, regional university, recognized as a national leader in community service and civic engagement.
• Doubling the endowment.
• 15 years of all-inclusive, balanced budgets and financial stability amidst a turbulent fiscal environment in higher education.
• Transforming the campus itself, with a new campus entrance, Founder's Village and the Campus Commons, upgraded facilities for teaching and learning, fine arts and athletics, and The PLEX, Alvernia's most ambitious project ever.
• Emerging as a national model for civic engagement and interfaith dialogue, led by two endowed centers – the Holleran Center for Community and Global Engagement and the O'Pake Institute for Ethics, Leadership, and Public Service.
• Significantly expanding the faculty and establishing the Faculty Excellence Awards and the Neag Professorships to support faculty scholarly, creative and professional achievement.
• Expanding Alvernia's presence and positive impact with numerous local and international partnerships.
• Ensuring that 100% of undergraduate students complete one or more service and/or experiential learning opportunities.

The President is Alvernia University's chief executive officer and reports directly to the Board of Trustees. The successful candidate will have a track record of exceptional senior leadership in complex institutions or organizations, a significant level of financial and operational acumen, demonstrated expertise in donor development and community engagement and superb communication and team-building skills. S/he will be a servant leader who models and articulates the Franciscan charism and heritage.
