Willamette University — Counselor / Diversity and Inclusion Liaison

Position Summary: Provide culturally informed care to undergraduate, graduate, and international students at Willamette University, with an emphasis on promoting the mental health of students who identify from historically marginalized groups. The position includes: counseling (individual, couples, group), intake assessment, crisis response and intervention, referrals, treatment planning, case management and documentation; informed by professionally accepted and empirically supported best practices. In addition to the typical duties of a counselor, the Liaison for Diversity and Inclusion must be: knowledgeable and passionate about social justice, skilled at forming relationships with faculty or staff in other departments (such as the Office of Multicultural Affairs or the Office of Accessible Education Services), interested in being a point of contact for diversity-focused student organizations and groups, interested in working with campus partners in developing procedures or programs to better respond to student mental health needs with a priority in addressing the mental health needs of students of color. Like other Bishop counselors, the person in this role will develop and implement educational and outreach programs, provide consultation about psychological issues to the broader campus community, and advise student groups as appropriate. The counselor will work collaboratively with medical providers in a multi-disciplinary and holistic wellness center.
