Felecia McInnis Nave Named Provost at North Carolina Central University

Felecia McInnis Nave was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at North Carolina Central University in Durham. She has been serving as a professor in the College of Engineering and as director of faculty development and engagement at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. From 2014 to 2017, she was provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Prairie View.

“In seeking North Carolina Central University’s next chief academic officer, we specifically sought an experienced academic leader with the vision, leadership, experience and management qualities necessary to advance a cutting-edge academic and research enterprise that is currently thriving at our institution — and Dr. Nave is that proven leader,” said Johnson O. Akinleye, chancellor of North Carolina Central University.

Dr. Nave has been widely published in scholarly journals on topics related to science, technology, engineering, mathematics and minority students. She holds memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and American Society for Engineering Education.

Dr. Nave is a graduate of Alcorn State University in Mississippi, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a master’s degree in chemical and environmental engineering and a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of Toledo in Ohio.
