Elgin Community College (ECC) is a comprehensive, fully accredited community college located in Elgin, Illinois, one of its most rapidly growing cities. Function:
Provide academic and administrative leadership associated with the Division of Sustainability, Business & Career Technologies and implement new programs and curriculum; recruit and evaluate faculty and support staff; manage divisional budgets.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Provide academic leadership within the College and the Sustainability, Business, & Career Technologies division. Oversee curriculum development and course scheduling to ensure that programs and courses are current. Provide direction in academic programs, program review and discipline-specific accreditation.
  2. Provide leadership in the recruitment, selection, hiring, and retention of full-time and part-time divisional faculty and support staff to ensure the delivery of quality education programs.
  3. Manage the evaluation of instructors and support staff to ensure ongoing professional development; provide overall supervision of divisional faculty and staff.
  4. Serve as Administrator in charge of Facilities, programs and operations for the Public Safety Training Center.
  5. Provide fiscal leadership for the division. Develop and manage division budgets to ensure accurate budget/fiscal reporting in compliance with established College accounting principles and procedures.
  6. Handle grant proposal writing and implementations. Oversee grant compliance and data collection/reporting procedures.
  7. Oversee divisional program review and preparation of reports for accrediting agencies and governing boards.
  8. Oversee the communication of academic program information to divisional faculty, staff and community. Manage the preparation and distribution of academic College publications, reports and press releases.
  9. Oversee the administration of collective bargaining agreements to assure divisional compliance with College policies and administrative procedures, ICCB rules and regulations, and state and federal regulations. Administer the appropriate sections of the approved collective bargaining agreements.
  10. Build and maintain relations with ECC Senior Management, board members, administrative and support staff and partners in business, industry, community and other educational institutions.
  11. Oversee facilities used in the delivery of Sustainability, Business, and Career Technologies Programs. Request repairs and remodeling as needed.

Requirements:

  1. Master’s degree (MA) or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Two years administrative experience as Department Chair or Dean.
  3. Three years teaching experience in higher education.
  4. Experience implementing collective bargaining agreements and negotiating contracts.
  5. Familiarity with ICCB or equivalent agency.
  6. Strong leadership qualities.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  8. Successful grant writing ability.
  9. Strong understanding of student learning and outcome-based assessment processes.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Doctorate degree.
  2. Previous experience teaching within one of the disciplines represented within the division.
  3. Budget management.
  4. Knowledge of certification requirements within various Career Technical Programs.
  5. Knowledge of trends in career technical and sustainability fields.
