Daniel A. Wubah Will Be the Next President of Millersville University in Pennsylvania

The board of governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education has voted to make Daniel A. Wubah the next president of Millersville University. He will take office on July 1.

Millersville University, located near the city of Lancaster, enrolls nearly 7,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students. African Americans make up 9 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Wubah is a professor of biology at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He served as provost at Washington and Lee from 2013 to 2016. Prior to joining the faculty at Washington and Lee, Dr. Wubah was deputy provost, vice president, and dean of undergraduate education at Virginia Tech. Earlier, he has served in faculty and administrative posts at the University of Florida, James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Towson University in Maryland.

Dr. Wubah is a graduate of the University of Cape Coast in Ghana, where he majored in botany. He holds a master’s degree in biology from the University of Akron in Ohio and a Ph.D. in botany and microbiology from the University of Georgia.

    Congratulations from one of the first African American students to attend Millersville University amidst the turbulent late nineteen sixties. Your appointment outstrips my imagination since you are the second president of African descent; a mere fifty years after I walked that campus as one of five African American basketball playing students in September 1968.
