Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment, the Director of Assessment oversees the institution’s assessment structure. S/he provides leadership and expertise to (1) facilitate assessment efforts, (2) ensure compliance with regional accreditation standards, and (3) deepen a culture of assessment that supports the University’s mission and strategic imperatives. This position requires exceptional relationship-building skills with an understanding of the complexities of academia.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant discipline
  • Three to five years of experience in evaluation, assessment, and/or institutional effectiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate complex information to campus and external constituents
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and championing successful teams
  • Demonstrated experience in data management, research methods, and statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading academic assessment activities at the institutional, departmental, and program levels
  • Demonstrated effective project planning skills
  • Demonstrated effective project managerial skills
  • Ability to work independently while overseeing multiple and complex projects
  • Ability to effectively multi-task

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline that provides rigorous preparation in quantitative and qualitative research
  • Experience as a faculty member at a post-secondary educational institution
  • Deep understanding of policies and processes associated with institutional accreditation
  • Keen comprehension of regional, external accreditation and governing body principles with an emphasis on regional SACSCOC principles
  • Proficiency with statistical packages and Microsoft Excel
