University of Massachusetts Amherst — Assistant Director of International Admissions

UMass Amherst, the flagship campus of the University of Massachusetts system, is seeking a dynamic professional to join its enrollment management international team. The University, which recruits high school students both nationally and internationally, receives approximately 43,000 applications for first-year admission each year.

The Assistant Director of Admissions will be an integral member of the department’s professional staff, which is charged with recruiting, selecting, and enrolling the undergraduate first-year class. The Assistant Director will help ensure the enrollment of a talented and diverse international student population. They will serve in a public-relations/informational role with prospective applicants and their families and cultivate relationships with secondary school personnel.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the undergraduate experience at a major research university
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field at time of hire
  • One year of experience working within international education including familiarity with education systems outside the U.S. and specialized knowledge of the cultural needs of international students
  • Ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively, and excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be available and willing to work a varied schedule, including evening/weekend work and a minimum of 2-4 weeks of seasonal travel (international and domestic) per year
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (with proof of insurability) and the ability to obtain a University credit card
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual ability
  • Experience with student information systems (preferably PeopleSoft and Technolutions Slate)
