University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension (Little Rock) — Assistant Professor, Field Crop Entomologist

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a successful, extramurally-funded and widely recognized Extension and Applied Research program in field crop arthropod pest management for Arkansas and the region. Areas of focus may include integrated pest management, economic thresholds, applied ecology, insecticide resistance, transgenic crops for pest management, pollinator impact and other relevant topics. Educational audiences will include growers, industry personnel, division personnel and others. There will be an expectation to direct graduate students and formal teaching of applied entomology may be assigned if needed. This is a 12-month non-tenure track position. Driving is required with heavy travel expected and the candidate must have transportation for use on the job with liability insurance in effect

Required: This position requires a Ph.D. in Entomology with an emphasis in applied research, IPM, applied arthropod ecology, economic decision thresholds and related, with all requirements completed prior to hire and conferral of degree no later than June 30, 2018. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Documented ability to work effectively in a team setting and with different audiences is required. Physical and mental ability to effectively perform all responsibilities including long and irregular hours and frequent travel are required.
