Radford University — Dean, College of Business and Economics

Radford University’s College of Business and Economics (COBE) seeks a dean to lead its student body of 1,400, a graduate student cadre of 50, and a faculty of 47 to new levels of achievement and recognition.

Occupying Kyle Hall, a $45 million state-of-the-art facility at the front entrance of the university’s beautiful campus on the New River in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, COBE is poised at the start of a new era and seeks a leader to galvanize the College and its community around a compelling vision for the future.

The opportunities for success for the College and its dean are bountiful. There is tremendous potential for garnering philanthropic support from a growing and increasingly successful alumni body and for developing symbiotic corporate partnerships.

Recently reaccredited by AACSB, the College’s faculty is cohesive in its commitment to both student success and scholarly attainment. The opportunity to “move the needle” at Radford is apparent and the potential considerable.

Addressing that potential will require a dean of considerable experience and skill both internally and externally. A strong leader and manager of people and programs are absolutely required, and a track record of successful engagement with external constituencies – especially in terms of both corporate partnerships and individual philanthropy – is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess an earned terminal degree and a record of teaching and research commensurate with an appointment to the faculty with tenure.

COBE’s new dean will report to Radford’s provost and will work in close concert with a senior academic administration – and in particular with a group of deans. Radford and COBE are on the move, and the new dean will be positioned in their vanguard. This is an exceptional opportunity for a leader to have a profound, even historical, impact on this institution.
