University of Pennsylvania — Assistant Professor (Academic Clinician Track), Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic-clinician track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of psychiatry with a focus on outpatient and inpatient psychiatry. Responsibilities include evaluation and treatment of psychiatric outpatients at the Outpatient Clinic at 3535 Market Street, seeing patients new to treatment as well as patients receiving ongoing treatment there, and collaborating with a clinical team to develop and enact treatment plans. Responsibilities also include providing hospital-based care on the Consultation-Liaison Services at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and Pennsylvania Hospital and at the Pennsylvania Hospital Crisis Response Center during vacations and other absences of team members there. Further responsibilities also include evaluating patients, establishing working diagnosis and acute problem lists, and developing and enacting treatment plans. The candidate will also lead a treatment team consisting of residents, medical students, nurses and mental health technicians.

The candidate will be actively involved in providing high quality teaching of residents, medical students and, at times, nursing and social work students on the various services described, in crisis assessments, development of differential diagnoses and appropriate psychopharmacology. Applicants must have an M.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care. Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Psychiatry is required.
