University of Nebraska-Lincoln — Chair, Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences

The College of Education and Human Sciences is seeking a dynamic leader for the department of Nutrition and Health Sciences. This is a strong department with robust enrollments, well-respected programs, and highly productive faculty members with an established track record of excellence in teaching, scholarship and research. We are looking for a department leader with a similar commitment and who will work with department personnel in pursuit of a shared vision for the future while advancing core values of excellence, equity, and accountability.

The Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences (NHS) was formed in 2003, by merging two separate departments/programs: Nutritional Science & Dietetics and Health & Human Performance. This merger reflects the department faculty’s shared commitment to health and wellness of individuals, families and communities. Specific programs housed within the department include nutrition and dietetics; athletic training; nutrition, exercise and health sciences; nutrition science; community health and wellness; hospitality, restaurant and tourism management (HRTM); and culinology. The department has 33 faculty, 12 full-time staff members, 1,088 undergraduate students and 108 graduate students. It is home to the NIH funded Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity and is affiliated with the university’s Institute for Agriculture and Natural Resources and the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor.

Review of applications will begin March 26, 2018.
