Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students and Director of the Center for Student Success, the Director of Disability Resources coordinates support services for students with disabilities, serves as a resource for the campus on disability and accessibility, and serves as a liaison for campus groups, faculty, staff, and administrators. The Director is responsible for improving the leadership, vision, and integrity of and for the Office of Disability Resources through the development of processes that provide timely and effective services for students with disabilities. In addition, this position is responsible for the identification and utilization of appropriate technologies to streamline communications, record keeping, scheduling, adaptive technologies, and other core functions; offers timely, compliant documentation of accommodations to relevant parties and provide robust services including note-taking, group coaching, and other effective strategies; and directs the development, review, and revision of written policies, guidelines, and procedures for determining reasonable accommodations and institutional and student rights and responsibilities. Further, the Director provides consultation for College and Conservatory offices such as Admissions, Facilities, Dean of Students, Academic Advising Resource Center, Residential Life, Registrar, General Counsel, Libraries, CIT, Study Away, Human Resources, and other campus offices to ensure appropriate access and accommodation for all students with disabilities as well as counsel, advise, and instruct students regarding disability issues. The Director will provide representation for the Division of Student Life on relevant campus committees and participate in the divisional project to develop student experience metrics designed to enhance strategic indicators to promote retention, persistence, and thriving.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, including social work, higher education administration, counseling, psychology, special education, or a related area that provides strong experience with student development and a minimum of five years of work experience in higher education providing disability services. A master’s or terminal degree is preferred. The candidate must have demonstrated management experience with budget oversight, personnel supervision, and program development as well as experience in developing relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds. A strong familiarity with applicable state and federal laws, and regulations pertaining to disabilities including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the application of these acts to the college and conservatory setting is also desired. In addition, the successful candidate will be on top of trends and best practices in supporting access for students with disabilities. Previous experience administering a student services office; interest in and engagement with the academic filed of Disability Studies; experience promoting student success and inclusion; and experience in the hiring, training, and management of student staff are all desired qualifications.
