Miami University — Director of Student Counseling Service

Job Summary:  Job ID: 5110 – FT – Unclassified (salaried)

The Director of the Student Counseling Service provides (1) administrative leadership and supervision of the staff and programs of the Student Counseling Service (SCS); (2) direct individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation with faculty and staff, psycho-educational programming, and training; and (3) liaison with University offices and staff regarding campus mental health issues, programming, and interventions.

Required qualifications:

  • Doctoral or professional degree in counseling, psychology, or related field required. Current Ohio license, or license eligible, in field of training, e.g. Psychology, Social Work/Counseling, etc., also required.
  • At least 5 years working in a clinical setting with college students
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience, either of trainees/interns or professional staff
  • Experience with crisis management and emergency response.
  • Excellent communication, strategic planning, assessment, and budgeting skills. Strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to collaboration with a variety of partners on and off campus.
  • Demonstrated competency in multi-culturally competent therapies and commitment to diverse student populations and best practices to support and serve the breadth of students at Miami University.
  • A demonstrated passion for students focusing on their well-being, development and learning, and a personal track record of continuous learning to stay current on new ideas and technologies relevant to the position.
  • A desire to work in a complex environment that values both data-driven decision making and innovation.
