In Memoriam: Martha Hemphill Veasey, 1938-2018

Martha Veasey, a long-time administrator at Canisius College in New York, died on New Year’s Day after a long illness. She was 79 years old.

A native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Veasey moved to Buffalo, New York. She was a graduate of Sisters Hospital School of Nursing and served as an operating room nurse for 21 years at Buffalo General Hospital.

Veasey earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Canisius in 1982 and then joined the staff at the college as a counselor. She later earned a master’s degree in counseling at Canisius College and served as director of community relations and director of disability support services.

  1. I am sad to hear about the passing of Martha Veasey. I recently moved back to the area and had hoped to connect with her once I settled in. I told her many years ago how much I appreciated her numerous acts of kindness shown me in my youth. God bless you Martha and God rest your soul.
