Two African American Scholars Poised to Take on New Roles

Pamela Jackson, an associate professor and dean of the College of Business and Economics at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina was appointed interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. She has been serving as dean since 2015 and has been on the faculty at the university since 1999.

Dr. Jackson is a graduate of Albion College in Michigan, where she majored in sociology and psychology. She holds a master of public administration degree from Troy University in Alabama, an MBA from Fayetteville State University, and a Ph.D. information technology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Bryan Bryson will join the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the summer of 2018 as an assistant professor of biological engineering. He is currently conducting postdoctoral research at the Harvard School of Public Health. His research is focused on infectious diseases, particularly tuberculosis.

Dr. Bryson holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a Ph.D. in biological engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
