The Next Leader of the Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta

The board of trustees of Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta has appointed Ken J. Walden as the new president-dean of the institution. The seminary was founded in 1883 by the United Methodist Church.

Dr. Walden has been serving as director of the Center for Chaplaincy, director of Supervised Ministry and an associate professor of pastoral care and counseling at the Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina. Before coming to Hood Theological Seminary in 2014, Dr. Walden served as a senior advisor to the Wounded Warrior Program within the Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation of the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. He is a chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserves.

Dr. Walden is the author of three books including Practical Theology for Church Diversity: A Guide for Clergy and Congregations (Cascade Books, 2015).

Dr. Walden is a graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina, where he majored in social studies education. He holds a master of divinity degree from Duke University, a doctorate from the Graduate Theological Foundation Mishawaka, Indiana, and a second doctorate from the Claremont School of Theology in California.
