Minnesota State University, Mankato — Dean, College of Social & Behavioral Sciences

Reporting directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences serves on the Council of Deans and President’s Expanded Cabinet to participate in leading the University forward. As the chief academic officer for the College, the Dean provides creative, visionary, and responsible leadership for student learning and success, academic program quality and relevance, faculty development and department chair leadership, and resource stewardship and growth. Additionally, the Dean is responsible for enhancing graduate education and grants participation, online and distance education programs, diversity and equity, academic and research centers, external relations, translational research and scholarship, collective bargaining agreement implementation, and private giving, in alignment with the division of Academic Affair’s, University’s, and System’s strategic directions and priorities.

The required qualifications are a Ph.D. in a discipline within the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences and eight (8) years of a combination of increasing and successful higher education faculty and administrative experience, achieving the level of department chair, related experience, or higher.
