Mississippi Valley State University to Debut a New Master’s Degree Program in Criminal Justice

Historically Black Mississippi Valley State University has announced that it will be offering a new master’s degree program in criminal justice. The new program will be offered online.

The new master of science degree in criminal justice has been approved by the board of trustees of the Mississippi States Institutions of Higher Learning. The first program offerings will be available in the fall of 2018. The new degree will be the second online graduate program offered by Mississippi Valley State University.

Constance Bland, vice president of academic affairs at Mississippi Valley State University, stated that “this degree will give a large group of our students an opportunity to enjoy the flexibility, convenience and self-pace attributes of an online program. We believe the degree will help us to better serve our students and provide an additional opportunity for others to pursue a post-baccalaureate degree.”

Dr. Bland has been on the staff at the university for more than a quarter century. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science, a master’s degree in computer science, and Ph.D. in computer engineering, all from the University of Mississippi.
