Fort Valley State University Introduces a New Scholarship Program

Fort Valley State University, the historically Black educational institution in Georgia, recently announced the launch of a new scholarship program, the Global Innovators Scholarship. The scholarship is designed to prepare high achieving students for roles as innovators, change agents, and leaders in a global society, including science, business, technology, the arts, and intellectual thought.

Students selected for the program will receive a $40,000 scholarship, awarded as $10,000 each year for four years, to be used toward tuition, room, board, books, and fees for full-time enrollment at the university. In addition, each Global Innovators Scholarship recipient will be provided with a stipend of up to $2,000 for a study abroad opportunity. Each scholar will be matched with a faculty mentor to help guide them through enhanced academic and co-curricular opportunities.

In order to be eligible for the program, a student must have a 3.5 grade point average in high school, a score of 1100 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT college admissions tests. Scholars will also be required to have shown leadership ability and to have participated in a wide range of extracurricular activities. Applicants for the scholarship must come to campus for an interview.
