Fitchburg State University — Dean of Business and Technology

Fitchburg State University seeks applications and nominations for the position of the Dean of Business and Technology, which reports directly to the Provost. The Dean will be expected to assume office in July 2018 or as soon thereafter as is feasible.

Fitchburg State University is a public comprehensive institution with a strong and proud tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and public service, and is situated on a 60-acre traditional New England campus in North Central Massachusetts, 50 miles west of Boston. The university offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the arts, humanities, sciences, social sciences, and professional fields to more than 7,000 students annually, including approximately 3,000 graduate students, and is home to over 200 full-time faculty members in the day division.

The Dean is the chief academic officer for the Division and has responsibilities in strategic planning, enrollment and budget management, curriculum and program development, external relations and fundraising, tenure and promotion, supervision and evaluation of staff, program assessment, and accreditation. The Dean, who is a 12-month excluded employee, is the chief academic and administrative officer of the division consisting of the departments of Business Administration, Computer Science and Industrial Technology. The Dean will also serve on various University Committees and boards that are pertinent to work of the Division. The Dean reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The Dean of Business and Technology requires an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a discipline represented within the Division, or in a related field; a record of teaching and scholarship meriting qualification for tenure at the rank of full professor; and a record of successful and increasingly responsible academic administrative leadership experience.
