University of Toronto Scarborough — Teaching Stream Position in Social Psychology – 1702129

The Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications from experienced educators to a teaching-stream appointment in Social Psychology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream and will commence on July 1, 2018.

The successful candidate must have a PhD in Psychology, or a closely related field, with a focus on social psychology, and must have significant teaching experience in a degree granting program at the University level. Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in teaching, and be able to demonstrate engagement in pedagogical/professional development, with clear indication of future ongoing development. Excellence in teaching may include a combination of excellent teaching skills, creative educational leadership and/or achievement, and innovative teaching initiatives. These must be demonstrated in a teaching portfolio that includes a compelling statement of teaching philosophy and goals, accompanied by a narrative that demonstrates how the candidate’s teaching practice aligns with their philosophy and goals.  Evidence of excellence in teaching can also include strong letters of reference, excellent course evaluations, documentation of excellent pedagogical practice; and/or documentation of excellent performance in other teaching related activities, such as educational leadership, pedagogical research, the supervision of undergraduate research projects, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, and/or conference posters or presentations. Experience and/or knowledge related to evidence-based pedagogical practice as it applies to teaching courses in quantitative and/or research methods in psychology will be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in social psychology, and supervise undergraduate students in research projects. They will also be expected to perform standard professional and administrative activities typical of a department and/or university. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
