Hofstra University is located on a scenic, 244-acre campus in Hempstead, Long Island, 25 miles east of New York City. Founded as a private, nonsectarian, coeducational institution in 1935, Hofstra became Long Island’s first private university in 1963.

The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication is a center of creativity on Hofstra’s campus. Its students are producing award-winning work, presenting research, and kickstarting their careers as future communications industry leaders. Prestigious faculty members lead small, intimate classes and combine expert teaching, mentoring, and hands-on experience to create a rich, collaborative, learning environment.
