Heartland Community College — President

The Board of Trustees of Heartland Community College invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its next President. The President will take office in July of 2018. Heartland is an open-enrollment, comprehensive community college. Extending over three locations, Heartland has an enrollment of more than 5,200 credit students and approximately 12,000 non-credit students.

As the College’s Chief Executive Officer, the President is responsible for providing institutional vision, community-minded leadership, and strategic direction. The President provides leadership in meeting the College’s mission and its commitment to student success and completion. In addition, the President is charged with demonstrating the ability to discern, prioritize and act on the matters of greatest importance to the College.

The next president of Heartland Community College must possess an advanced degree and significant senior leadership experience, preferably in higher education. The successful candidate should be an inclusive empowering leader, inspiring trust, fostering the culture of open communication, yet able to make difficult decisions in the best interest of the College; able to articulate and inspire a shared vision for a large and diverse organization operating in a dynamic and flexible educational environment; have demonstrated financial skills including budget management and revenue enhancement; strong communication skills, including experience as the visible, public representative of a large organization.
