Union College — Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Mathematics

One tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor (advanced appointments with a shortened tenure clock may be considered for exceptional candidates), one three-year visiting position, and potentially other short-term visiting positions, all starting in September 2018. At Union, institutional expectations and support are balanced between teaching and research; candidates should demonstrate excellence in both areas. The teaching load is two courses per trimester. The positions are open to candidates with strong teaching credentials in undergraduate mathematics and research specialization in any field within mathematics, applied mathematics or statistics.

Applicants should submit their materials online at MathJobs.org, including a vita, research statement, and teaching statement, with three letters of reference. The mathematics department and Union College are strongly committed to student and workforce diversity. Union provides a blend of intellectual, social and cultural opportunities to facilitate the integrated academic, social and personal development of a diverse community. We value and are committed to a host of diverse populations and cultures including, but not limited to, those based on race, religion, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, national origin and veteran status. We invite candidates to include in their cover letters remarks about their own experiences or goals concerning their diversity initiatives and ways to serve a wide variety of student populations and cultures. At least one letter of reference should address teaching qualifications. The statement on teaching should include a summary of recent teaching evaluations and a description of how they were administered. To guarantee consideration, application files must be complete by December 1, 2017.
