University of California, San Diego — Assistant, Associate Professor in Chemistry and Biochemistry

THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY within the Division of Physical Sciences at UC San Diego (http://chemistry.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and invites applications for the Dean’s Excellence search, which includes a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor) in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Candidates with research interests in Materials (broadly defined), Polymer, or Inorganic Chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a strong record of research accomplishment, an innovative research plan, and a demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching. Successful candidates will be expected to teach chemistry and/or biochemistry courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. All positions are subject to availability of funding.

Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field. In addition, successful candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion in higher education. A successful candidate must have a well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences. We especially welcome candidates who have already benefited from, contributed to, or created such programs. A successful candidate will also have served as a role model in mentoring others, with a commitment to helping shape and expand the University’s diversity initiatives (http://diversity.ucsd.edu/).
