Two New Deans at Texas Southern University in Houston

Maurice Odine was appointed dean of the School of Education. He was a professor and associate dean of the School of Journalism and Graphic Communication at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. Earlier in his career, Dr. Odine taught at Tennessee State University, Grambling State University in Louisiana, Xavier University of Louisiana, Northeast Louisiana University and Sam Houston State University in Texas. Dr. Odine is a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo. He holds a master’s degree in radio and television from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, and a Ph.D. in mass communications from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

Dianne Jemison-Pollard was named dean of the Honors College at Texas Southern University. For the past decade, Professor Jemison-Pollard has served as chair of the department of fine arts at the university. She has also served as associate dean for academic affairs for the Honors College. Dr. Jemison-Pollard has directed over 50 theatrical productions at the university. Professor Jemison-Pollard is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. She holds a master’s degree in communications from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master of fine arts degree in directing from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and an educational doctorate from Texas Southern University.
