The Director of Marketing is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of integrated marketing communications for campus-wide and program-specific initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President for Communications and Marketing, the director will work in collaboration with cross-functional teams within the Office of Communications, including digital, creative, and media relations disciplines, to develop marketing amplification and content distribution strategies that promote, enhance, and protect Trinity’s brand reputation and awareness. The director serves the marketing needs of the college broadly, as well as those specific to student recruitment and retention, career development, financial aid, study away programs, graduate and certificate programs, summer programs, and more, and will collaborate with the Director of Advancement Communications and colleagues in Advancement in the planning and execution of comprehensive campaign communications.

This is a new position in the Office of Communications, and for it the college seeks a talented marketing director who will bring ideas, energy, and a desire to join an excellent team in support of the college’s mission and its bold vision for the future.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute an integrated marketing strategy for Trinity that aligns with the college’s mission and strategic goals and raises the overall visibility and profile of the college in Hartford and the surrounding metro region, as well as nationally and globally.
  • Provide strategic marketing support to the Division of Enrollment and Student Success, serving its needs with regard to undergraduate student recruitment (including J-Start), retention, career development, and financial aid.
  • Provide strategic marketing support to programs and divisions throughout the college, including Study Away Programs, Individualized Degree Program, summer programs, graduate and certificate programs, and arts programming.
  • Collaborate with Director of Advancement Communications and colleagues in Advancement in the planning and execution of comprehensive campaign communications.
  • Consult with campus clients and manage various vendor relationships to create marketing materials that are strategic, creative, and integrated with the college’s goals, particularly those articulated in the college’s new strategic plan. Responsible for the research, writing, and—in collaboration with communications colleagues—design and production of such materials, which may include print collateral, web content, social media campaigns, video, and email marketing.
  • Make strategic use of paid media to drive integrated communications campaigns and leverage social media, mobile and web platforms, and other content distribution tactics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in planning, development, execution and measurement of marketing plans
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels, including hands-on experience with SEO, email marketing, web content strategy, and social media marketing strategies and campaigns
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and utilize web content strategies to drive engagement and track key conversions among target audiences
  • Facility with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to track campaign performance and conversion metrics and to inform web content strategies
  • Strong understanding of print production, design, and the use of photography and video in effective marketing
  • Excellent communications skills, especially writing and editing
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and autonomously
  • Highly collaborative style, desire to contribute to a team and ability to lead projects and advise colleagues on marketing strategy
  • Experience in higher education marketing desired
