Quinnipiac University — Part-time Counselor

Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of a Counselor to join a collaborative team providing undergraduate and graduate students individual and group counseling, manage triage and crisis intervention as well as outreach programming and consultation in a fast paced and dynamic health and wellness center. Reporting to the Director of Health and Wellness, the Counselor will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse campus constituencies including students, administration, faculty and staff.

This is a part- time position requiring 19 hours/week and is non-benefits eligible.

  • Maintain caseload of individual students and facilitate groups as needed
  • Coordinate student care including referrals and collaboration with other treatment providers
  • Collaborate with campus partners to provide crisis intervention, counseling and consultation
  • Manage triage and crisis intervention for students and community as appropriate
  • Maintain clinical documentation in accordance with legal, professional and university guidelines
  • Provide exceptional operational excellence to our students, faculty and community
  • Perform role in a nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory manner in accordance with university policies
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and training programs with Health and Wellness staff
  • Utilize electronic medical record system to maintain accurate and current clinical medical records
  • Positively contribute to a supportive, healthy and safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Special Instructions to Applicants

  • Earned doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and/or Master degree in related field of Social Work, Counseling, Alcohol and Drug, Psychology or other related mental health field
  • Current licensure for the State of Connecticut in related field
  • Five years of experience in mental health with a focus on caring for young adult/adult population
  • Ability to work independently in clinical practice
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
  • Experience with sensitivity of a diverse community, and a demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent and sensitive counseling services to a racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse population
  • Working knowledge of HIPPA and FERPA
